The Nut Point Centre
The Nut Point was founded in October 2003 as an art Studio/Gallery by the Clay Sculptor John Allan.
Since 2005 the Centre has been organising and hosting an annual art exhibition named:“The Annual West Melton Art Event”.
In 2007, the Centre initiated music performances, taking place on most months of the year. This enabled performers to be heard in a unique venue combining a formal yet warm & friendly concert environment.
This activity is also harnessed onto charity events such as concerts or art auctions donating all revenues (no expenses deducted) to charity.
So far the Centre has annually supported organisations such as :
SPCA Canterbury, Willow bank wildlife hospital, WASPA and others.
The aim & motto of the Centre, is collaboration and coordination between the different art and music media and their promotion in a way that is directly accessible to the community.
Since 2007 The Centre also became active in re-establishing New Zealand Native Plants and preserving their presence for future generation. The plans are on display on the Centre’s grounds.
